Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility

NAADA (the National Agricultural Alumni & Development Association) believes in diversity representation. We denounce racism and all forms of discrimination. As an organization, we know we must do more to advance diversity and inclusion, and are committed to doing so by listening, learning, and taking action.

Our mission is to provide education, support and recognition for professionals and volunteers dedicated to expanding resources for advancing agriculture and related disciplines through land-grant and other colleges of agricultural sciences. We strive to be welcoming and inclusive and have worked for several years to include 1890 land-grant institutions and historically black colleges and universities as members, partners, and annual conference participants and presenters. To represent the diversity of our membership, we aim to be intentional as we recruit volunteers to the NAADA Board of Directors to be inclusive of all, including but not limited to gender and sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, track and institutional representation.

As we address diversity, equity, and inclusion opportunities and challenges in our board discussions, it has become clear that we must define a volunteer role on the board who could guide our organization in our efforts to be more inclusive. The board voted last March to amend our bylaws to designate a Director at Large that will focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. We encourage your support when the proposed amendment goes up for vote on June 23 during our 2020 NAADA Annual Meeting. We welcome our members to play a role in making NAADA an inclusive organization for all our colleagues, alumni, donors, and volunteers.
